The UK’s largest independent healthcare management app, ‘myGP’, has today introduced a new ‘healthcare marketplace’ and gone live with ‘NHS login’ to empower patients to take ownership of their health by providing simpler access and a greater choice of healthcare services.
The launch sees the first six high caliber partners join myGP, including:
- Forth – provides at-home blood tests to give clear scientific data and expert advice to help navigate to better health, providing insights into hormone levels, vitamin absorption, and hormone testing.
- GPDQ – instantly connects to a GP for a video consultation, visit or in-clinic appointment, where necessary. It also carries out PCR tests for asymptomatic patients should they need to ascertain whether or not they are carrying the Covid-19 virus.
- My Online Therapy – improves mental wellbeing whenever and wherever suits, with one-to-one sessions and therapeutic self-care tools from highly qualified practitioners.
- Ascenti – the leading provider of physiotherapy and wellbeing services in the UK. It connects patients to local physiotherapy services on-line or in-person if necessary, providing patients with instant access to online resources to help them recover faster.
- VHPGO – launching exclusively through myGP, VHPGO comes equipped with live trusted virtual experts, who help guide the wellness journey, providing nutrition and lifestyle guidance and fitness support.
- Medbelle – facilitating access to orthopaedic procedures, such as knee and hip surgeries, it allows patients to request a consultation with a specialist and manager their journey with support and advice from a dedicated healthcare adviser through its web based platform.
Tobias Alpsten, Founder and CEO of myGP, commented on the improved access:
“We’re delighted to be launching our new ‘healthcare marketplace’ to provide myGP users with even more choice when it comes to their healthcare needs.
“We have partnered with a number of healthcare organisations across a range of sectors – from mental health to physiotherapy to wellness and nutrition – in order to offer our users simplified access to first-class healthcare services throughout the UK. We have a number of NHS partners already working with us, including Echo pharmacy and IESO online CBT, and this next group have been carefully selected to complement the NHS, they all meet our exacting partner criteria and share our ultimate goal of simplifying access to healthcare.”
Alongside the new healthcare marketplace, patients can also now make use of NHS login. myGP’s NHS login feature enables new users to download the free app and to gain secure, remote verification and subsequent access, completely removing any involvement from the patient’s GP practice allowing every NHS patient with a smartphone using myGP instant and secure access to their own medical records, a list of available appointments at their practice, and the ability to request repeat prescriptions – allowing them to manage their health wherever they are.
The two million existing myGP users are being invited to utilise the NHS login feature to gain access to their repeat prescription with optional delivery as well.
Tobias continued: “What’s more, before Covid-19, in order for patients to get access to their medical records and to order repeat prescriptions through myGP, they had to be verified at the surgery to receive their NHS online credentials. However, since the pandemic, that has ground to a halt for obvious reasons, so we needed to improve access in another way.
“This is a real step-change not just for patients but for practices, who no longer need to spend time fielding calls and appointments for repeat medications or medical record access, or remotely verifying patients ID to give them online access. It will free them up to concentrate on the patients who need them the most.”
Once logged-in to myGP, users will receive access to the following:
- Order repeat prescriptions – order repeat medication directly to a pharmacy of choice.
- View medical records – view personal medical records and export sections as PDFs to share with loved ones and healthcare professionals.
- Set medication reminders – track medication adherence and view weekly and monthly trends.
- Track weight and blood pressure – manage weight and blood pressure with daily recordings. Make and manage appointments – quickly and easily enables users to book, change or cancel their appointments, receive appointment reminder push notifications and add the details to their digital calendars.
- Manage the health of loved ones – manage appointments and requests for family members and dependants.
- Access complimentary health services – access partner offerings through myGP
